Yahoo! India plagiarized contents from couple of blogs when Yahoo! launched their Malayalam portal. The giant corporation hasn't yet owned up to their responsibility nor did they apologize to the bloggers. When accused, they silently removed the contents. This is not acceptable. We need an apology! When asked for apology, Yahoo! India is now accusing WebDunia as their content provider. The contents appeared on Yahoo! domain and not on Webdunia's Domain. Hence, we hold Yahoo responsible. I am protesting against this and joining hundreds of bloggers in this march against blatant corporate plagiarisation.

Recently Indian television viewers started getting access to truly interactive television on Zee TV's DISH TV Direct to Home services (DTH) and TATA-SKY's just launched DTH services. Both are having exciting Active (Interactive) programming like Active Sports, Active News, Movie on demand etc.

Total cost of ownership is Rs: 4000/- and Rs.200 per month for TATA-SKY and Rs: 3200/- and Rs:160 per month for Dish TV. But TATA_Sky is offering its introductory price and Dish TV is having many more packages to choose from, so the tariff changes accordingly.

Nimbus Appoints STAR India to Distribute Sports Channels NEO SPORTS

Nimbus Sports Broadcast has appointed STAR India to exclusively distribute its forthcoming bouquet of NEO sports channels.The first of the channels, the cricket centric NEO SPORTS is set to be launched in the last quarter of 2006. This will be followed by NEO SPORTS Plus, a sports entertainment channel, which is expected to be launched by the end of the year. STAR India has exclusive distribution rights for these two channels till 2010 and will also distribute any future sports channels from the NEO SPORTS stable.

After extensive discussions with a number of interested parties, Nimbus chose STAR as its distribution partner based on the broadcaster’s market knowledge, quality of management team, distribution reach, and leadership position in India. Harish Thawani, Chairman of Nimbus said, “We are deeply impressed not just by the leadership and vision of STAR but also its strategy for NEO SPORTS’ comprehensive distribution needs. In the end, it was the strong track record of executing on its strategic plans that persuaded us to appoint STAR.”

Execution of a Teenage Girl

On August 15th, 2004 a 16-year-old girl was hanged in a public square in Neka, Iran, a small industrial town by the Caspian Sea. Her death sentence was for crimes against chastity. Her name was Atefah Sahaaleh. The only evidence against Atefah was her own forced confession.

Atefah railed against her judge in court for its unfairness, but this was her undoing. Judge Haji Rezai, who was also the local mullah, prosecutor and head of the city administration, personally obtained permission from Iran's Supreme Court to execute her, and put the noose around her neck himself before she was hoisted on a crane jib arm to her death.

Using undercover footage, eyewitness accounts and drama recontruction, this film tells an unforgettable story of the life and tragic death of an ordinary teenage girl under Iran's mullahs.

Congratulations to the Kerala's LDF (Left Democratic Front) leadership who has suggested the Kerala Government to impose a statewide ban on Colas. Although this is in the wake of the latest test reports by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) lead by the brave Sunita Narayan, Kerala's common people was waiting for this ban for a long time. It is notable that the (in)famous Coca - Cola plant at Plachimada (Palakkad) was bought here by the previous LDF lead government itself . I hope the Kerala government will not buckle under pressure form different quarters and will impletment the Ban on Colas.

Yesterday I tuned in to NDTV for 'BIG FIGHT' and 'WE THE PEOPLE' , the panalist at both the programs include Sunita Narayan of Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), and some ad film makers for the cola giants. I'd like to ask to NDTV Where are the politicinas, who are responsible for making laws in this country? why NDTV failed to feature them in the above mentioned programs where such an important issue was being discussed.

Some points I'd like to ask here are...

If the ground water in India is already contaminated why the companies are not using their money power to clean up the water before they make colas and other softdrinks. They must cut down the amount they pay to the cricket & film starts and use it to clean their products from pesticidal residues.
Why the companies are coming out with their own statements ?
Why they (supporters of Cola giants) cant see several American Universities already banned colas from their campuses. (not because the quality of their products, but in protest against the over exploitation of groundwater resources in India and other third world countries).
Why the Americans in the consultes in India consume Colas imported from Singapore ? where we can get the 'international standard Colas' here in India. Is this reads as "Americans Dont Trust Colas Made in India?"
Who will compensate to the poor people of Plachimada and surrondings? They are not having drinking water now. The all that left is contaminated with heavy metals and other harmful substances? who is responsible for this?
